The Rolling Stones are an English rock band, formed in 1962 in London when Brian Jones, the multi-instrumentalist and Ian Stewart, famous pianist combined with Keith Richards, the guitarist and Mick Jagger, the vocalist. Charlie Watts, the drummer and Bill Wyman, the Bassist finished the early lineup. Stewart who was considered not suitable as teen idol, was got rid off from the official group in 1963 but he joined as the road manager of the band and as casual keyboardist till his death in 1985. After they signed to the Decca Records during the year 1963, the band name changed to “The Rolling Stones” from “the Rollin’ Stones”.
Richards and Jagger formed a partnership during the year 1963 and they started the leadership of the band since Jones was more erratic and troubles. After they recorded the covers of R&B and American blues songs, the studio record they produced since the album Aftermath in the year 1966, all of them featured mainly Richards/Jagger songs. Mick Taylor replaced Brian Jones just before his death in the year 1969. In the year 1974, Taylor quit the band and he replaced in the year 1975 by guitarist Ronnie Wood who stayed in the band ever since. Wyman left the band in the year 1992, and then Darryl Jones who was not the official member of the band has remained as the main bassist since the year 1994. Read more »

The Metallica

Metallica is an American heavy metal band who formed in the city of Los Angeles in California during the year 1981. The group was founded by Lars Ulrich, the Drummer who posted an ad in the local newspaper. Metallica’s lineup mainly consisted of James Hetfield, the vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Ulrich the Drummer and Kirk Hammett, the lead guitarist when going through many bassists. Robert Trujillo is the bass guitarist at present.
The early released of Metallica included instrumentals, fast tempos and very aggressive music which placed them in the top four of thrash metal genre along with Megadth, Anthrax and slayer during the development of this genre into a famous style. The group got a good fan base in underground music community and they became more popular with their album “Master of Puppets” released in 1986 which is considered as the heaviest and thrash metal albums. The band achieved great success with their album Metallica in the year 1991 which got into top position in Billboard 200. With the release of Metallica, the band enhanced its musical direction which resulted in album which was more appealing to an mainstream audience. In the year 2000, Metallica was one among few artists that filed a lawsuit for sharing the copyright protected materials of their band for free without the consent from the band members against Napster, an online music sharing service. They came with a settlement and Napster soon became a service for pay and use. Despite becoming top on Billboard 200, the release in St. Anger estranged lots of fans with snare drums of steel sounding and expulsion of Guitar Solos. The Bee Gees Trio

The Bee Gees were actually a trio of singing brothers namely Maurice Gibb, Robin and Barrry. The trio were victorious in most part of their 40 years of music recording, but they had 2 periods of extraordinary success as harmonic soft rock which came in late 1960s and during early 1970s and they were the top most music stars of the 1970s disco music era. The group has sung 3 part tight harmonies which can be recognized instantly. Robin’s clear lead in vibrato was their hallmark in earlier hits, but during the disco years, Barry’s R&B falsetto was more popular. The 3 brothers wrote together most of their hits as well as producing and writing few major hits along with other artists.
The three brothers were born to English parents in Isle of Man and they lived in Manchester, UK during their initial years and shifted to Brisbane in Australia where they started their music career. After their chart success initially in Australia, they returned to UK where Robert Stigwood, the produced introduced them to worldwide audience. U2: Ireland Band

U2 are a reputed rock band from the city of Dublin in Ireland. The group has a Bono (guitar and vocals), the Edge (keyboards, vocals, and Guitar) and Adam Clayton (Bass Guitar), and Larry Mullen (Percussion and Drums). The band was developed in 1976 at the Secondary School level when member were teenagers with very less musical knowledge. Within 4 years, they signed with Island Records and they released their first album named Boy. During the mid 1980s, they became as top international acts. They were very successful in live acts that in selling studio records till their album “The Joshua tree’ was released in 1987. This album elevated the stature of U2 band from heroes to Super heroes according to The Rolling stone magazine.
The album Achtung baby which was released during the year 1991, which accompanied the Zoo TV Tour was a thematic and musical reinvention for their group. Reacting to their own musical stagnation in the late 1980s, the band introduced alternative rock and dance music into their albums and live performance which replaced their early image with an ironic tone. Also they continued the same experimentation during the 1990s. The Doors – Rock Band

They are famous American rock band who were formed in Los Angeles, California during the year 1965. The band had ray Manzarek, the Keyboardist, John Densmore, the Drummer and Jim Morrison, the vocalist and Robby Krieger, the guitarist. They were one of the most controversial rock arts in 1960s owing to wild and poetic lyrics of Morrison and his unpredictable stage acts. After the death of Morrison in 1971, the rest of member pursued as a trio till they finally disbanded for their good in 1973. Though the career of the Doors ended during 1973, the popularity of the group has not failed. According to Recording Industry Association of America, the band has sold more than thirty two million albums in United states alone.
The band originated with an accidental meeting between fellow alumni of UCLA school, Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison on Venice beach in California during July 1965. Morrison informed Manzarek that he has been doing some song writing and with encouragement from manzarek, they sang the “Moonlight Drive”. The Beatles Band

The Beatles were a reputed English rock band, formed during 1960 in Liverpool. They were the most commercially hit band in history of popular music. Three boys from Liverpool named George Harrison, John Lennon, and Paul McCartney joined together during the time of cultural liquidity during 1960s with bit players Pete Best and Stu Sutcliffe. They absorbed and reprised British pop history and American Rock and Roll to that point, and played 5 amphetamine fueled sets during a night in Hamburg, the port town of Germany and then came back to Liverpool to find their perfect manager Mr. Brian Epstein and Producer George martin. They released the first super hit single in U.K., “Love Me Do/ P.s I Love You” during the month of October in 1962.
From the year 1962, the band had John Lennon who is well known for his vocals and rhythm guitar, George Harrison for his vocals and lead guitar, Ringo Starr for vocals and drums and Paul McCartney for his vocals and bass guitar. Rooted in skiffle and the rock and roll of 1950s, the band worked in different genres later which ranged from psychedelic pop to folk rock. They incorporated classical elements innovatively to create a new genre of music in their own style. Their popularity emerged as “Beatlemania”, which transformed when their songwriting increased n sophistication. Led Zeppelin had a ten year career from the year 1969 to 1979 and were the most famous rock band in word with more than fifty million records sale in United States alone and with more than 200 million records worldwide. They developed the blues based power and also trio along with lead singer archetype in different directions including folk rock, mystical English, quirky pop, Eastern impacted exotica and all manner of heaviness. They also symbolized Dionysian type of rock lifestyle.
The band’s ability to produce classic rock radio albums and the earlier mentioned excesses have influenced many to consider the band as overrated and they symbolized the end of rock and roll during the 1970s. The album which is considered as super value collection is the “Early days and latter days: Best of volumes 1 and 2 (2 discs) signify that, if the bands greatness is not appreciated well, it is due to earlier mentioned resentments and since the band did not have any bigger cultural impact. They did not have any particular group or style to create an impact on the culture. The Eagles are a famous American Rock Band who were formed in the city of Los Angeles in California during the year 1971 by Don Henley, Randy Meisner, Glenn Ferry and Bernie Leadon. With 5 top singles and 6 albums, the Eagles remained as the commercially and critically successful recording artists during the 1970s. At the end of twentieth century, their 2 albums, Hotel California and Their Greatest hits (1971 to 75) were ranked as the twenty top selling albums in United States as per the sources of ‘Recording Industry Association of America’. Hotel California was ranked as Number thirty seven among 500 greatest albums of all times by the Rolling Stone magazine. The band was ranked as Number seventy five in the the Rolling stone magazine 2004 list among the 100 Greatest Artists of All times. Their Greatest hits (1971 to 75) was the top selling album in United states during that time.
The Eagles group split during the year 1989 and they reunited during the year 1994 for Hell Freezes over which was a mix of new studio tracks and live music. They have toured sporadically since then, and they were introduced to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during the year 1998. The Eagles released the album “Long Road Out of Eden” during the year 2007 which was their 1st studio album in twenty eight years. The following year, they started the Long Road out of Eden tour to support and backup the album. The Queen Rock Band

Queen is a reputed British rock band which got formed during the year 1970. This band actually contained a lead vocalist by the name Freddie Mercury, drummer Roger Taylor and Bassist John Deacon. They have been portrayed as greatest live performers ever and they have produced the greatest hit single in music history and they remain as best British pop band of all times. They have published fifteen studio albums, 5 live albums and myriad compilation albums. The record label EMI of this band, reported a worldwide album sale of around 300 million albums in the year 2009 as per the report from BBC and other sources.
The band had great success in UK during 1970s but with the release of albums A Night at Opera in 1975 and the Sheer Heart Attack in 1974, they gained an international success both commercially and critically. A Night at the Opera featured the famous “Bohemian Rhapsody” which remained in top position in the charts of UK for around 9 weeks. Their success continues during eighties and nineties. Mercury was diagnosed and found HIV positive during the year 1991 and he died of Bronchopneumonia which is an AIDS complication. During the year 1997, Deacon retired. After that Taylor and May have performed sporadically in various programs and special events. Queen was placed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during the year 2001. Read more »

Pink Floyd is an eccentric and popular multi-platinum band of rock era, which has made some exceptional cinematic sound effects in their albums “Wish You were Here”, “Meddle” and “Dark Side of the Moon”. It is a famous English rock band who got popular through their psychedelic music during late 1960s and for the progressive rock music during the 1970s after they emerged into a popular band. They are reputed for using philosophical lyrics, very good album arts, amazing live shows and sonic experimentation. They have sold more than 200 million albums overall, which includes seventy four million certified units in US alone.
This band was formed during 1965 with university students namely Bob Klose, Nick Mason, Roger water, Syd Barret and Richard Wright. The group has a great fixture on underground music scene in London and they released to singles “See Emily Play” and “Amold Layne” under leadership of Barret. Their commercial success came with the album “The Piper at the gates of dawn”. David Gilmour a famous singer and Guitarist joined the line-up during 1968 and they removed Barrett from the band owing to his erratic behavior. After the departure of Barret, Roger Waters, who was the singer and bass player became the most powerful figure in the band after which they achieved commercial success with concept albums like Rock opera The wall, Wish You were here, Animals and The Dark Side of the Moon.
